Material & Methods

The current PIGVISION research project features a hollow wooden sphere of 72 cm diameter. A video camera is mounted inside, capturing the outside scene through a hole in the wall. For the experiment the sphere is rolled into the middle of a flat paddock with the camera pointing to the gate. Its view frame is levelled parallel to the horizon. A pig is released into the paddock. The camera records the pig's exploratory behaviour, including the appearance/disappearance of the pig and the horizon inversion within the picture frame.
