.............................. is a sound based website TUNED to broadcast experimental and explorative media in cyberville. It is currently a site-in-progress and contains recent examples of work created this year at the Seventh Anat National Summer School at the Tasmanian School of Art @ Hobart.
I am interested in experimenting with on-line digital audio and the possibility of creating a cyber radio location for community access over the Internet. Like many other artists, I am attracted to the notion of a virtual community pushing the exchange of media through an unstable and variable sound and image architecture.
My idea is to create a multiple media editing, mixing and mastering engine that can provide an interface for globally mapped projects. Random or organised visitors will be able to enter a vast library of data (including audio, midi, graphics and text files), open their choice of media into an edit based regions list and manipulate it for output to a weekly or daily 'playlist'. Each visitor will also have the opportunity to download their own data and play individually or with other participants to reflect their own creative interaction.
The heart of the project - the edit, mix and master window - will be under construction over the next few months and in the meantime I suggest you download a free copy of Real audio to listen to and encode your own sounds. OR if you have a copy of SoundEdit 16 with the SWA Extras on board, Shockwave some audio, send it to me and I'll put it on ..............
The artwork on the site can be found on the 'What's on' page. This will contain a permanent list of media ready for broadcast (including Virtual Instruments, Electro-acoustic compositions and Experimental soundtracks).
NOW PLAYING are 'Three short animation soundtracks' by Sydney based sound artist Zubbie Lima. And three tracks from the 'Whispering' CD release by Damian Castaldi.
I would like to thank Amanda, Jason, Lloyd, Kathy, Josephine, Leon, Bill and the rest of the staff at the Tasmanian School of Art Computer Studio for all their generous time and wealth of knowledge whilst attending the Anat National Summer School, radx - damian. 1/3/97
